Videos I like

I really like the way light projection is used in this video. The projection is of her and her on screen boyfriend Mac Miller which sets out the mood of the video. The song is about "the way" his love makes her feel and this is displayed through the two acting like a couple. Ariana Grande is most well known through being on a nickelodeon TV show. The kiss between her and Mac Miller shows how she has grown in her career and is doing more mature projects as she is older now and wants to show her fans that as well. Ariana Grande is wearing a dress and dancing around which gives the video a lighthearted girly feel. All of the makeup/clothing/props etc used are again very young and girly. The mise-en scene also contributes to the girly and feminine feel with the pink and white balloons and the hearts being projected onto the wall. The colours pink and red "hearts" are usually things stereo typically associated to being a girl, which then again relates to the nature of the video

I love the grainy texture of the video as it gives it a retro style. The costume and make up is also themed around a retro era. The editing in this video is simple but effective. We get quick cuts throughout the video which match the beat of the music. The video focus is on beyonce throughout which conveys a very strong message of female independence.  All of the makeup/clothing is brightly coloured which supports the mood of the song. All of her dancing is on point and strong which once again displays that she is a strong woman. Also the multiple screens she's on really emphasizes that the focus point should be on beyonce and nothing else.

The third video I've chosen is Taylor Swift- Everything has changed ft. Ed Sheeran. I love how instead of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran being in the whole video they have got lookalikes for their younger selves and we only see them right at the end. Both artists have incorporated their video styles in this video. For example Ed Sheeran doesn't like being in his videos apart from one brief second were he appears and Taylor Swifts video genre had been incorporated into this as all of her music videos are very similar. When we do see Ed and Taylor we get close ups of their faces, this is to establish that they are the main focal point of the video. We also get close ups of Taylor and Ed's younger doubles throughout the video so we can identify who they are meant to be playing. This video really shows and portrays the innocence of young love, before everything becomes so complicated.
